Introduction to Department

1. Educational Goal of Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics

Biotechnology & Bioinformatics is one of the advanced sciences to lead the next-generation sciences and technologies. This department aims to identify the principles of life phenomena and develop human resources specializing in basic and applied areas applicable to human life. At the bottom of it, the aim is to develop human resources to lead the society based on scientific exploration, creativeness and respect for human dignity.

2. Specific Goals of Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics

A. Development of professional researchers and industrial workforce to lead technology-intensive biotechnology based on future-oriented and creative education;

B. Cultivating the ability to apply research skills by acquiring professional knowledge and theories in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, cell engineering, biology structure, protein engineering, genomics, biochemical engineering, synthetic bio-engineering, bio-reaction and process engineering, computational biology, immunology and biophysics.

C. Leading roles to promote research in the advanced bio-engineering areas such as development of new drugs, new bio-materials, disease diagnosis and prevention, disease understanding and treatment through genetic techniques, etc.;

3. Academic Characteristics and Prospects of Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics

Biotechnology & Bioinformatics provides the tools and information that makes human life comfortable based on understanding of life phenomena.
