Introduction

The Department of Display and Semiconductor Physics was established in 2004 by specializing education and research in the field of display and semiconductors. With their efforts over the past ten years, this department has become the representative model for physics-related departments throughout the country.

Aside from this success, to fulfill the new concept of talent demanded by the newly arrived high-tech industry and revamped global standards, this department will attempt another innovation slated to begin in 2017. The department has been reorganized into Display Convergence and Semiconductor Physics, and will make another great leap with the educational objective of 'Development of future society-leading glocal (Global + Local = basics + characterization ), creative talent'.

By converging the Display and Semiconductor Physics majors into basic education that is based on condensed matter physics, this department will develop creative talent for the display and semiconductor industry, one of South Korea's strategic industries, with the goal of the following three educational capabilities:

Basic science capability : The capability to produce their own worthiness by independently and flexibly applying solid basic science knowledge in this rapidly changing era.

Glocal capability : The expert capability to contribute to local society, and the convergence knowledge to lead the complex and diverse global age.

Future creative capability : The capability to provide 21st century leadership by finding new digital areas with their creative, progressive spirit and to actively adapt future society based on their ideas.
