KU Sejong Campus Research and Business Education Center Holds Professional Training Workshop with KU Data Process Deep Learning Center

The Korea University Sejong Campus Research and Business Education Center, managed by Kim Hwi, and the Korea University Data Process Deep Learning Center held a ‘Professional Training Workshop for Deep Learning Application Base Industrial Mathematics Problem Solving’ in the Start-up Café of the library on January 14 and 15.

This workshop was held under the supervision of the Korea University Data Process Deep Learning Center to strengthen students’ usage of deep learning and to help solve industrial mathematics problems based on professional training.

The two days proved to be a unique learning experience with topics like ‘Python basics for practicing Google Colab platform deep learning and data crawling.’ The event was divided into six sections starting with Korea University Professor Lee Yeon Joo’s introduction of platforms cooperating in solving industrial mathematics problems and deep learning technology, and moving on to data collection, processing, handling, and educational process theories before the use of deep learning and coding practices.

Korea University, Kyunghee University, Ewha Women’s University, Jeju University, and students who are interested in deep learning participated in this lecture, while professors in the field of applied industrial mathematics from Korea University, Kyungpook National University, Dongseo University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Ewha Women’s University, and Jeju University participated in the debates and lectures.

Manager of the Research and Business Education Center, Kim Hwi, said, “Through this workshop, I think that we can train deep learning professionals to prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Through this opportunity, while raising the industrial mathematics problem-solving skills of the students, I hope that the basics of deep learning, with an emphasis on education, content development and expansion of those basics, will be fulfilled.”

Lee Joo Yeon, a student from the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering who participated in this workshop, said, “At first, I was worried that this workshop would be too difficult for me, but after undergoing a variety of training, I was able to gain a good grasp of it. I am going to practice what I’ve learned here in real life and try to understand the field of deep learning more.”
