Korea University Sejong Research and Business Foundation Chosen as 2020 Sports Business Job Center

Funding of 1.5 Billion Won for three years

Health Care, Elite Physical Education, E-Sports all under the technologically innovative startup corporate aid program

The Korea University Sejong Research and Business Foundation was chosen as the main hub for the ‘2020 Sports Job Center Aid Program’ run by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation. The foundation will be receiving funding in the amount of 1.5 billion won.

The program will center on establishing a high-quality job market, startup funding, and educational services for innovative sports companies that are in their third year as well as future startup entrepreneurs. This year, along with the KU Sejong Research and Business Foundation, a total of seven organizations were selected for the program, including two start-up centers, four regional start-up support centers, and one dedicated to sports and social enterprises.

Korea University Sejong Campus will be receiving 500 million won until December 20 and will be providing support for the sports-based startup environment and adaptive startup education in cooperation with the Faculty of Global Sport Studies. The program will also aid the adaptive growth program by nurturing innovative startups like physical education care, elite physical education, and E-sports through the Sejong Job Center.

The head of the foundation, Baek Seungpil, said, “We hope that Korea University Sejong Campus will establish a Sejong Startup Belt to lead the demand for sports start-ups near Sejong City and act as a hub for connecting the Seoul metropolitan area and the central region. We plan for the campus to be an excellent base for sports startups with the help of ICT Convergence and the Research and Business District.”

The Sejong Job Center has taken the lead in the campus startup culture by supporting 82 corporations since 2018.
