<Korea University Social Service Organization (KUSSO) Receives Sejong City Prize>

The Korea University Social Service Organization (KUSSO) was awarded the Sejong City Prize in the club category of the Youth Volunteer Service Contest. The Youth Volunteer Service Contest was arranged to encourage community youth to participate in volunteer work by awarding the best practices discovered in elementary, middle, high school, and university clubs, which provide various youth-oriented volunteer services. The contest was hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Sejong City, conducted by the Youth Service Center, and supported by the Sejong City Council and the Sejong City Office of Education.

On October 23, the awards ceremony for the 2019 Youth Volunteer Service Contest was held in the Goun-dong Complex Community Center. Thirteen youth teams (person/club) and leaders who contributed to local community development through volunteer services were presented with awards in the ceremony. Also, each team received a Sejong City Prize, a Sejong City Council Prize, a Sejong City of Education Prize, and a Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Prize. Kang Gidong, a student from the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering who is the 11th vice president of KUSSO received the Sejong City Prize as a representative.

Kim Hyomin, the president of KUSSO said, “I think it is meaningful for KUSSO to receive the award for their club activities in the 2019 Youth Volunteer Service Contest.” She added, “KUSSO will keep up our value of sharing through various activities and contributing to society, which embraces not only Sejong City but also the local community.”

KUSSO is a volunteer group composed of Korea University students that was founded in 2008. KUSSO has spread the value of sharing by planning and conducting various volunteer service programs to be able to help Sejong City and the local area with the purpose of becoming moral intellectuals. KUSSO has conducted various volunteer service programs such as a briquette sharing volunteer activity, a volunteer activity for rural communities, a mural volunteer activity, a volunteer activity for senior citizens who live alone, a volunteer activity at an orphanage, and a volunteer activity for abandoned dogs.
