Soh Huisu, student of the Division of Display and Semiconductor Physics at Korea University’s Sejong Campus, has been awarded the Grand Prize at the 2025 Gyeongbuk International AI & Metaverse Film Festival. The achievement is recognized as a notable outcome of Korea University’s ‘Next Intelligence’-based innovative education initiative, as well as a demonstration of the global competitiveness of student-led start-ups.
Soh’s award-winning work, “Kkwaeng”, was created under the theme of ‘connecting the past and future of Gyeongju to establish a cultural icon representing Korea on the APEC stage.’ Drawing inspiration from Silla’s cultural heritage, the project integrates modern popular culture such as K-pop and hip-hop, presenting a distinctive visual style. The judging panel highly praised the piece for its innovative fusion of tradition and modernity.
Soh also contributed to the production of “Gulliver’s Voyage to Yuldo”, which won the top prize in the festival’s Creative Division, highlighting his collaborative achievements. Soh had previously received recognition at the Seoul International AI Film Festival and other overseas competitions with the AI film “Eddington”. This latest award further solidifies his presence on the international stage.
During his studies, Soh co-founded the student start-up ‘AIMZ Media’ with peers. The media-tech company specializes in generative AI content engineering and has delivered both technology and content to domestic public institutions, major corporations, and international film festivals and production companies. These accomplishments underscore how students at Korea University Sejong Campus are extending their academic achievements into tangible industrial success.
