Event Establishes Itself as Platform for Student Career, Employment, and Startup Support
On September 10, Korea University Sejong Eco Industry Convergence and Open Sharing Center hosted the '2025 EcoUp Fair' at the Sejong Convention Center. This year marks the third iteration of the event, which saw participation from over 40 organizations and institutions, with numerous students and citizens visiting to create a venue for communication between the local community, universities, and industry.
The center is operated by Korea University Sejong Campus as the lead institution with support from the National Research Foundation of Korea. The consortium includes Korea University Seoul Campus, Konkuk University, Yeungnam University, Vision College of Jeonju, and Sejong City as participants. Launched in 2023, this project aims to cultivate customized professionals as 'Green Technology Innovators' focusing on six core areas: greenhouse gas reduction, climate change adaptation, sustainable water conservation, resource circulation, pollution prevention and management, and biodiversity conservation.
The event was comprised of three zones: a corporate zone featuring participating eco-companies, a startup zone with emerging companies and startup preparation teams, and an R&D zone showcasing achievements made through eco-industry convergence education by students. Major companies including Kyeryong Construction Industrial Co., Ltd., Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd., K-water, and the Institute for Advanced Engineering participated in the corporate zone, introducing their corporate values, core business areas, and ideal candidate profiles. The startup zone featured booths by emerging companies and startup teams such as 3DMEM Co., Ltd., Woori Environmental Consulting Co., Ltd., and CEEDERS, showcasing innovative ideas and technologies.
Additionally, regional institutions including SejongCity, Daejeon Regional Meteorological Office, and Sejong RISE Center introduced policies and practical cases for carbon neutrality and green growth. Korea University Sejong Campus Startup Support Center and University Job Plus Center also participated on-site to provide employment and startup counseling support.
Expert lectures, including ‘Environmental Business and Entrepreneurship’ by Industry-Academia Cooperation Professor Cha Woonou and ‘My Story That Should Be Written Before a Resume’ by Adjunct Professor Seon Hyunju of Kookmin University's Leadership and Coaching MBA program were arranged. Furthermore, a 'WE-MEET Matching Day' was conducted to explore models for mutual growth among regions, industries, and universities, and to strengthen networks between companies and universities.
Various participatory programs were also operated, including a K-water tasting competition, personal color diagnosis for interview preparation, and life three-shot photo sessions, enhancing student satisfaction.
The center Director Kim Young stated, "This event serves as a valuable opportunity to provide practical career exploration opportunities for students who will lead the future. We will continue to strengthen industry-academia cooperation to lead growth in the eco-industry sector."
