Full-Scale Launch of Regional Innovation and Practical Human Resource Development Education Through Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation
On September 10, Korea University Sejong Eco Industry Convergence and Open Sharing Center hosted the '2025 EcoUp WE-Meet Matching Day' at the Sejong Convention Center.
The 'WE (Work Experience)-Meet Project' is a flagship curriculum of the Convergence for Open Sharing System (COSS) Advanced Field Innovation and Convergence University Project, which helps students grow into professionals with practical competencies by directly performing field tasks required by companies and receiving expert mentoring. This 'WE-Meet Matching Day' was organized to share the educational achievements of this curriculum and strengthen the industry-academia-community cooperation network.
The event was attended by directors and project group officials from EcoUp consortium universities, including Korea University (Sejong and Seoul campuses), Konkuk University, Yeungnam University, and Vision College of Jeonju. National Research Foundation of Korea Director Park Hanseok and related officials also participated to share the purpose and development direction of the WE-Meet Project, while Sejong RISE Center Director Yoon Seokmu emphasized plans according to the RISE system and the importance of industry-academia- community cooperation.
In the corporate presentation session, Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) Department Manager Park Beomsu, Taeyoung Construction Manager Choi Hanna, and Viron Co., Ltd. CEO Kang A-ram participated to share their major businesses, future professional requirements, project achievements, and plans, presenting growth visions through research and business cooperation. Following this, Yeungnam University student Kim Shinho, who received the Minister of Education Award at the '2024 WE-Meet Awards,' presented his project implementation experience and expected effects from the participating student perspective.
Director Kim Young of the center stated, "This matching day serves as an important venue where young individuals in the eco-friendly EcoUp field can confirm their potential while identifying the workforce needs required by companies. We will continue to expand the innovative ecosystem where industry-academia-community cooperation works closely together to spread the excellent achievements of the 'WE-Meet Project,' an employment-linked one-stop model."
Relatedly, the Eco Industry Convergence and Open Sharing Center, one of 18 Advanced Field Innovation and Convergence University Projects overseen by the Ministry of Education, is leading the growth of Korea's EcoUp industry with major universities nationwide forming a consortium together with Sejong City. To achieve this, various industry-academia-community cooperation expansion models are being realized, including curriculum development and operation, joint resource utilization, and regional industry linkage.
