On September 8, Korea University Sejong Campus Sejong National Program of Excellence in Software conducted artificial intelligence (AI) data competency enhancement education for all staff of the Sejong City Office of Education. A total of 272 people participated in this education program, with the goal of improving practical data analysis capabilities and AI utilization competencies for digital transformation in the public sector.
The education was designed based on the demand identified at the 'Conference for Enhancing Public Data Utilization Competency Centered on Sejong City Practitioners' held last April. The education began with Vice-Superintendent Cheon Beomsan of the Sejong City Office of Education emphasizing the necessity and expected effects of data-driven administration at the opening ceremony.
In part one, Dr. Kwon Hyunji of the program explained the changes that AI brings to workplaces, public administration, and education, as well as analysis and visualization methods by data type and purpose, presenting the importance of data literacy through case studies.
In part two, Instructor Jung Sunmi of the program explained AI-based data analysis processes and the basics of prompt engineering. Using public data within the educational data platform and AI, she conducted real-time demonstrations including comparing the scale of special education classes by city and province, and analyzing relationships between the number of schools, students, and special education classes.
The satisfaction survey results showed this education received a score of 4.6 out of 5 points. Participants responded positively while mentioning requests for expanded additional hands-on practice, advanced course offerings, and small-scale customized education. The program plans to reflect these suggestions and enhance the program by reviewing hands-on SW/AI utilization advanced courses for government department and public institution employees, as well as small group educational courses by department and job function.
An official of the program stated, "To spread the value of SW and AI, we will systematically operate SW and AI education for government department and public institution employees annually, expanding work-oriented education such as public data analysis, visualization, and report automation to support the establishment of data-driven administration." This education is being evaluated as an example of SW and AI convergence education to drive digital innovation in Sejong City.
