"Sejong's Heritage Meets Today" Digital Special Exhibition Held Citizen-Participatory Exhibition Reinterpreting Sejong's Cultural Heritage through AI and 3D Technology
From November 26 to 28, the Korea University Sejong RISE Project Team and the Department of Cultural Heritage Convergence held the special exhibition "Sejong's Heritage Meets Today" at the Sejong City Hall. Reconstructing Sejong's representative cultural assets through digital technology, this exhibition was prepared as part of Unit Task 5, Establishment of Hangul Cultural Capital and MICE Industry Development, of the Sejong RISE Project.
The exhibition is a program that reinterprets Sejong's history, culture, and identity with a modern sensibility based on cutting-edge technologies such as AI-generated videos, 3D printed artifacts, and citizen-participatory experiential content. The goal is to share with citizens the vision of Sejong City as a "global exchange city where culture, industry, and technology converge" and to present the possibilities of the regional cultural industry.
The exhibition featured AI exhibition videos such as Bronze Age and Baekje residential culture competition content, Deunggok-ri village ritual story, Jochiwon Station history content, 3D printed artifacts containing Garakdong-style pottery, Baekje pottery, Songwon-ri and Daepyeong-ri residential site models, and citizen participation zones of Jochiwon Station block model, virtual experience content, wish message zone, photo zone. The exhibition used a combination of AI and 3D technology to express Sejong's past and present, regional living culture, and the historical value of the original downtown area in multiple layers.
In particular, the video "Show Me the Sejong Living" produced in AI rap competition format, the "Deunggok-ri Village Ritual" content reinterpreted from a youth perspective, and the Jochiwon Station transition history video received high interest from visitors.
This exhibition aims to demonstrate a digital cultural industry model based on Sejong’s regional assets, establish a citizen-led cultural content development model, and lay the groundwork for future MICE program expansion. Citizen feedback collected after the exhibition will be used for future digital exhibition planning and regional cultural content development.
Yang Jiwoon, Director of the Korea University Sejong RISE Project Team, stated, "It is significant that citizens and local youth participated together in the process of reinterpreting Sejong's cultural heritage with AI-integrated digital technology. We will continue to expand the industry-academia-research-government cooperation model so that Sejong can build an innovative city brand based on culture and technology."
