RISE Project-Based Discovery of Innovative Ideas Integrating Digital Healthcare with Humanities and Social Sciences Wins All Categories Including Grand Prize with AI-Bio Convergence Ideas

On Decemmber 11, Korea University Sejong Campus announced that Korea University Sejong Campus students won awards in all categories including Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Encouragement Award at the '2025 Digital Healthcare Idea Competition.'

This inaugural competition was jointly organized by Korea University Sejong RISE Project Team, Hongik University RISE Project Team, Chonnam National University, Kwangwoon University, Kongju National University, and Busan National University. Students from the six universities competed with various ideas themed on AI-healthcare-humanities and social sciences convergence.

The Grand Prize went to the "Sejong City Mind Temperature Map Based on Biosignals" project by Kim Seongbin and Kim Miso students of Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, with Professor Hwang Hanjeong from the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering serving as supervising professor. This idea received high evaluation for its technological originality and social applicability.

Two teams were selected for Excellence Awards. Kim Mingi, Yang Jinhyeok, and Yoo Seungyeop of the Department of Electromechanical Convergence Engineering, with Professor Ahn Junseong as their supervising professor, proposed a system that monitors fruit contamination and freshness in real-time using AI-based SERS analysis technology.

Seo Youngjun, Choi Sohyeon, and Lee Jongho of the Department of Bioinformatics, with Professor Lee Kyudo as their supervising professor, presented a portable health examination kit idea that measures multiple metabolic biomarkers using PDMS-based biosensors.

The Encouragement Award was won by Ryu Yeongha, Ju Migeun, and Lee Jemin from the Department of Digital Healthcare Engineering, with Professor Kim Seunggyu from the Department of Digital Healthcare Engineering as supervising professor. They proposed a smart bed management idea that detects patient movement and condition changes using diffused silicon pressure sensors.

This competition was organized as a forum for participating universities to share innovative ideas in the digital healthcare field, and Korea University Sejong Campus students confirmed their technological capabilities by winning in various categories.

Meanwhile, at the 'HUSS-RISE Alliance Sejong Local Community Smart City Achievement Forum' held in conjunction with the competition, measures to strengthen the humanities and social value and resilience of Sejong's local community smart city were discussed based on cooperation between regional medical institutions, companies, and universities.
