On November 12, the Korea University Sejong Campus College of Public Policy held the 3rd Chungcheong Region Research Institution-Korea University College of Public Policy Joint Forum at Public Policy Hall.

This forum, themed "Climate Change Response Strategy with AI - AI Utilization and Regional Renewable Energy Development Plans," was conducted as a follow-up to business agreements between major national research institutions in the Chungcheong region and Korea University's College of Public Policy.

Approximately 90 people attended the forum, including Vice President Yang Jiwoon of Sejong Campus, Kim Yeongbae, Director of the Chungbuk Research Institute, and Kim Honggyun, President of the Korea Environment Institute, along with other institutional leaders and officials.

The event was jointly organized by Korea University's College of Public Policy and the Chungbuk Research Institute, with sponsorship from the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute, Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade, Korea Environment Institute, and Korea Labor Institute. The purpose was to cooperate in creating conditions for sustainable development of the nation and local communities.

The forum consisted of two sessions. The first session featured a presentation by Son Donghyeon, President of Woosong Information College, on the theme "New Tasks AI Imposes on Education and Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences."

The second session included presentations by Kim Yunjeong, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Environment Institute, on "Latest Trends and Tasks in Climate Change Response: Considering AI and Climate Justice"; Lee Heonseok, Policy Committee Member of Energy Justice Actions, on "AI and Data Center Power Supply and Renewable Energy Transition Tasks"; Choi Seungho, Senior Research Fellow at the Chungbuk Research Institute, on "Strategies for Expanding Energy Self-Sufficient Villages in Korea"; followed by a comprehensive discussion.

The College of Public Policy signed business agreements with the Chungbuk Research Institute and Korea Labor Institute in 2023, and with the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute and Korea Environment Institute in 2024, continuing mutual exchanges. Cooperative activities have continued from the 1st joint forum last October through this 3rd forum.

Korea University Sejong Campus plans to lead a strategic cooperation system at the ultra-regional level through connections with national research institutions and companies located in Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do. Based on Sejong City's strategic industries, the university aims to organically connect the entire Chungcheong region to build an ultra-regional global value chain centered on Korea University Sejong, actively pursuing joint research, technology development, and talent development.
