Discussions Launched on Building a RISE Based Digital Healthcare Ecosystem Linking Region, University, and Industry

 

On September 19, Korea University Sejong Campus held the kickoff meeting for the SIBT Digital Healthcare Center at the Sejong Marriott Hotel.

 

The event brought together Korea University Sejong Campus, Sejong Technopark (Sejong TP), and the Korea Medical Device Development Foundation to discuss concrete collaboration strategies in the field of digital healthcare.

 

A key agenda item was the strengthening of cooperation among the region, universities, and companies under the RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) framework, along with strategies for leveraging a 940 billion won pan ministerial national medical device R&D program scheduled to launch next year.

 

The meeting served as a forum for experts from industry, academia, and research institutes to share strategies for building a digital healthcare ecosystem and to exchange insights on the latest research outcomes. 

 

Discussions focused on fostering a sustainable, region-based digital healthcare industry; cultivating human resources through university–industry collaboration; and securing global competitiveness by effectively utilizing national industry, academia, research projects.

 

Sejong Technopark and the Korea Medical Device Development Foundation stated that they plan to further expand joint support platforms to strengthen end-to-end assistance for companies, covering the entire lifecycle from R&D and patents to clinical trials and regulatory approval. Korea University Sejong Campus also plans to contribute to revitalizing regional industries and advancing the global digital healthcare sector by leveraging its academic strengths and innovative research capabilities.

 

An official from Korea University Sejong Campus emphasized that this collaboration would mark the full scale launch of a digital healthcare innovation ecosystem centered in Sejong, adding that the university aims to build a growth model that connects the university, the region, and the nation.
