Full-scale promotion of industry–academia–research cooperation in future mobility, information security, and quantum fields

On November 5, Korea University Sejong Campus held the launch ceremony of the Sejong RISE Project Industry-Led University Expert Council in the Science and Technology Building 1. This event was organized to bring together industry–academia–research experts in Sejong’s core strategic industries, future mobility, information security, and quantum, to discuss industry demand–based education and research linkage and directions for building a regional innovation ecosystem.

The event began with an opening address and congratulatory remarks by the head of the Research and Business Cooperation Foundation, followed by an introduction to the RISE project, presentations on the composition and operation plans of field-specific councils, the presentation of appointment certificates to experts, and a commemorative photo session. Immediately after the launch ceremony, the first round of council meetings for each field was held in succession, during which practical agendas for industry–academia–research cooperation and future joint promotion plans were shared.

In the future mobility field, directions for building a regional demonstration-based foundation and developing private-sector cooperation models were shared, focusing on the discovery of autonomous driving pilot operations and private participation models within Sejong City.

In the information security field, key research agendas were finalized under the leadership of representative professors, and measures to strengthen information security and data security tailored to the industrial characteristics of the Sejong region, as well as the application of AI security, were discussed.

In the quantum field, discussions were held on ways to create a research ecosystem based on technology commercialization and corporate cooperation, under the theme of discovering consulting models for quantum technology development and industrial application.

Choi Duho, Head of the Korea University Sejong Research and Business Cooperation Foundation, stated, “The launch of the Sejong RISE Project Industry-Led University Expert Council is a new starting point for nurturing key talent that will lead future industries in the Sejong region. It is an important first step toward building a regional innovation ecosystem through cooperation among industry, academia, research institutions, and government. We will actively support the Sejong RISE Project so that it can establish itself as a sustainable growth engine for the Sejong region.”

The Sejong RISE Project Group plans to fully operate an industry–academia–research cooperation platform centered on the industry-led university model in the Sejong region following this launch ceremony. Going forward, it will promote industry-tailored curricula, regionally linked research projects with local companies, and youth talent development programs, and will lead efforts to strengthen competitiveness across the future mobility, information security, and quantum industries.
