Seeking to expand the regional digital healthcare ecosystem through industry–academia–research cooperation
On December 17, Korea University Sejong Campus held the ‘2025 SIBT Digital Healthcare Center ICMC–Sejong City Industry Cooperation Forum’ at the Research and Business Cooperation Building.
The forum was hosted by the Sejong Research and Business Cooperation Foundation and organized by the Sejong RISE Project Group.
It was designed to discuss practical models for joint research linkage and cooperation between digital healthcare companies in Sejong City and university faculty members, centering on the Digital Healthcare Center under the Sejong Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT) and the industry cooperation small group platform ICMC (Industry Club Mini Center).
Eight digital healthcare related companies from Sejong City, including Macrogen, participated in the event, engaging in technology exchange and discussions on the potential for research and business cooperation.
As a key program, memoranda of understanding (MOUs) were signed between the SIBT Digital Healthcare Center and seven Sejong-based digital healthcare companies, Resorius, Eoharmony, EA Company, Ogane Program, Gravity, Ebenhaim, and Petkychecky.
The participating organizations agreed to cooperate in promoting joint research in the digital and bio health fields, identifying company demand–based research tasks, jointly planning and participating in government R&D projects, and revitalizing the regional industrial ecosystem.
In the subsequent program, participating companies introduced their core technologies and business areas. Based on these presentations, discussions followed on potential joint research topics and cooperation directions that could be pursued together with the ICMC faculty members of Korea University Sejong Campus. Technology challenges and research demands were shared across areas such as digital diagnostic technologies, bio-data utilization, biosignal analysis, and senior-friendly healthcare, while the university reviewed joint research plans focusing on its research capabilities, experimental infrastructure, and potential personnel linkage.
During the comprehensive discussion session, participants discussed methods for promoting joint research, task planning structures, and mid- to long-term cooperation directions. Notably, the forum went beyond general discussions of cooperation, producing tangible outcomes in which specific research and business cooperation tasks and joint research initiatives were immediately identified on site.
Specifically, Professor Ahn Junsung of the Department of Control and Instrumentation Engineering and Ogane Program agreed to begin joint preparation for an SME R&D Steppingstone project. Director Hwang Hanjung of the Digital Healthcare Center (Department of Electronic and Information Engineering) and Deputy Director Han Changhee of the Department of Computer Information Science discussed cooperation measures with Resorius for promoting global joint R&D projects.
Director Lee Gyudo of SIBT (Department of Bioinformatics Engineering) discussed planning research and business joint research projects in the digital and bio-health fields with Petkychecky and Eoharmony.
Director Hwang Hanjung stated, “This forum served as a venue where Sejong City digital healthcare companies and university faculty members met directly and translated possibilities for joint research and cooperation into concrete tasks. Going forward, we will actively support regional companies so that they can achieve tangible research outcomes and business growth through the ICMC-centered research and business cooperation platform.”
Relatedly, the SIBT Digital Healthcare Center plans to use this forum as an opportunity to strengthen structural collaboration between industry and academia and to foster the Sejong-style digital healthcare industry as a representative future strategic industry of the region.
