First public unveiling of a virtuous cycle model for lifelong learning
The Sejong RISE Project Group of Korea University Sejong Campus announced that it will host the ‘Citizen Instructor Debut Talk Concert’ from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, at the Sodam Lecture Room (Learning Room) of the Sejong Office of Education Lifelong Education Center, in conjunction with the opening of the center.
This event marks the first official public stage to showcase the outcomes of the instructor training program promoted as part of the Sejong RISE lifelong education initiative. It will provide an on-site opportunity to witness the Sejong-style virtuous cycle model of lifelong learning, in which citizens grow beyond learners to become instructors.
The Korea University Sejong Lifelong Education Center has operated intensive instructor training programs targeting retirees and individuals with career interruptions. The programs have provided practice-oriented education, including lecture planning, content development, speech, and facilitation.
Even after completion, participants have received individualized coaching and instructional competency enhancement programs, raising their capabilities to a level at which they can deliver actual lectures to citizens.
At this talk concert, three individuals who have completed the program will make their official debut as citizen instructors. Under the theme of ‘A Talk Concert with Citizens,’ the event will focus on lectures and conversations closely connected to everyday life.
The program consists of two main parts. First, debut lectures by the citizen instructors will be held for 30 minutes each, including: ‘A Turning Point in My Life That Gave Me a Healthy Life’ (Instructor Lee Saya), ‘Self-Care Learned in the Hospital – Healthy Relationships Begin with Self-Care’ (Instructor Lee Sunmi), and ‘Going from Sejong to Seoul National University – Happy Studying Begins with a Mother’s Design’ (Instructor Kang Sea).
In the subsequent joint talk session, the instructors will share their motivations for participating in the instructor training program, changes experienced during the training process, reflections on their debut as instructors, and their plans as lifelong education instructors, engaging in dialogue with the audience.
On the day of the event, a promotional booth introducing the 2026 Korea University Sejong Lifelong Education curriculum will also be operated, along with the distribution of promotional materials for the Sejong Handuri Campus. Citizens will be able to learn about various educational programs scheduled to be offered starting in 2026 and how to participate, as well as receive counseling and guidance related to lifelong education.
Based on cooperation with the Korea University Sejong Lifelong Education Center, the Sejong RISE Project Group plans to continuously strengthen the core goal of the Sejong RISE Project, which is the establishment of a lifelong learning foundation across the entire life cycle.
In particular, the project aims to gradually expand a sustainable lifelong learning model in which diverse citizens, including retirees and those with career interruptions, grow from learners into instructors and contribute back to the local community.
