Practical startup support outcomes become visible for career-interrupted individuals and prospective entrepreneurs
Korea University Sejong Campus announced that the Sejong RISE Project Team has produced a total of 98 program completers through an entrepreneurship and revenue-linked education program conducted for Sejong citizens, with 7 of them successfully launching actual startups.
In addition, four prospective entrepreneurs who wish to start businesses within one year were newly identified among the completers, confirming tangible startup outcomes achieved through the education program.
This program was supervised by the Korea University Sejong RISE Project Team and hosted by the Korea Industrial Promotion Association, and was operated in December 2025 at Hansol-dong, Dajeong-dong, and Saerom-dong Administrative Welfare Centers, as well as at two local companies.
Citizens from diverse backgrounds, including small business owners, career-interrupted individuals, prospective entrepreneurs, university students, and employed workers, participated, demonstrating strong interest.
The entrepreneurship and revenue-linked education program was designed as a full-cycle curriculum covering practical e-commerce operations, including online platform entry strategies, branding, marketing, SNS short-form video sales, and Coupang seller entrepreneurship. The curriculum was custom designed based on a pre-program demand survey, and post-completion individual consulting support led to the successful launch of seven actual startups.
An analysis of applicants showed that participation was particularly high among those seeking reemployment and entrepreneurship, with career-interrupted individuals accounting for 31%, prospective entrepreneurs 23%, and early-stage startup founders 15%.
In addition, female participants accounted for 62%, and those in their 30s and 40s comprised 66%, indicating a very high demand for practice-oriented entrepreneurship and lifelong education among adult learners in Sejong City.
Based on these outcomes, the Korea University Sejong RISE Project Team plans to advance a Sejong-style lifelong-learning-based startup support model by pursuing the following initiatives: △ strengthening a step-by-step entrepreneurship education system from beginner to intermediate to advanced levels △ expanding post-startup education in accounting, customer service, and operational practice △ building networks among prospective entrepreneurs and program completers (small groups and seminars) △ establishing a system for continuous consulting and startup incubation support.
In addition, the team stated that it will further expand collaboration with the Korea University Sejong Lifelong Education Center to continuously develop a future-oriented lifelong education system for adult learners.
