Dr. Gyudo Lee is an assistant professor of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Korea University. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Department of Biomedical Engineering, Yonsei University in 2008 and 2014, respectively. He completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard University in 2017. He joined Korea University as a research professor of Biomedical Engineering. After research professor career, he has served on Korea University faculty in Sejong Campus since September 1st, 2019.
Prof. Lee has been leading the Biomedical Nanoengineering Laboratory (BiNeLa) in the College of Science and Technology in Korea University. Main research interest of Prof. Lee focuses on the investigation of biomolecular interactions related to degenerative diseases using nanomaterials and nanotechnologies.
저는 고려대학교 생명정보공학과 이규도입니다. 2008년 및 2014년에 각각 연세대학교에서 학사 및 박사학위를 수여받았습니다. 1년동안 연세대학교에서 박사후연구원을 거친후 미국 Harvard 대학교에서 2년간 박사후연구원 과정을 수행하였습니다. 2017년부터 고려대학교 바이오의공학부 연구교수를 거쳐, 2019년 9월 1일부로 고려대학교 생명정보공학과에 부임하였고, 생체나노공학연구실(BiNeLa)을 이끌고 있습니다. 주된 연구분야는 나노소재와 나노기술을 융합하여 퇴행성질환과 관련된 생체분자의 거동특성을 연구하는 것으로, 궁극적으로 질병을 치료하거나 진단하는데 도움이 되는 나노기술을 개발하고자 합니다.

■ 알츠하이머 약물 스크리닝 기술 개발
알츠하이머의 발생 기전은 아직 명확하게 밝혀지지 않았다. 그에 따라 알츠하이머를 진단하거나 치료하는 약물 개발은 답보상태이다. 현재까지 밝혀진 알츠하이머 발병 가설은 베타아밀로이드의 변성과 축적으로 인한 뇌조직의 괴사, 그리고 변성된 타우단백질의 신경세포내 축적, 그로 인한 세포 사멸이 주요 원인으로 꼽힌다. 현재 대부분의 알츠하이머 치료제는 질병의 진행을 예방하거나 지연시키는 작용에 초점을 맞추어 개발이 진행 중이다. 하지만 이미 발병한 환자의 경우에는 아밀로이드의 제거와 배출이 질병 치료에 있어서 필수적일 것이다. 본 연구실에서는 이미 형성된 변성 단백질들을 제거할 수 있는 약물 후보군을 빠르게 발굴하고 약효를 비교분석할 수 있게 해주는 초고속 알츠하이머 분해제 스크리닝 기술을 개발하고자 한다.
■ 세포막 코팅 기술을 활용한 바이오마커 센서 개발
인간의 몸을 구성하는 세포의 종류는 200가지가 넘는다. 각 세포 종류마다 세포의 막에 발현되는 막단백질의 종류와 농도는 매우 다양하고, 그에 따라 각 조직과 장기에서 적절한 기능이 이루어질 수 있다. 그 적절한 기능이란 세포의 표면에 발현된 막단백질의 기능으로 대변될 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 사실은 우리에게 한 가지 흥미로운 영감을 주게 된다. 그것은 바로, 만약 세포막을 추출하여 전극에 코팅할 수 있다면 우리는 특정 세포가 발현한 막단백질을 활용하여 분자센싱을 하거나 분자필터링을 할 수 있게 된다는 것이다. 본 연구실에서는 다양한 세포 종류별로 세포막을 추출 및 코팅하는 기술을 활용하여 막단백질의 기능에 대해서 심도있는 연구를 수행하고 궁극적으로 그 기능을 활용하여 다양한 바이오센싱 신기술을 구현하고자 한다.
