Acceleration of Reinforcement of Convergence Study Capability Due to Research Funding Orders Amounting to 40 Billion Won

 

Korea University Sejong Campus, headed by Vice President Kim Young, is proving to be a competent university in research by amassing research funding orders in the amount of forty billion won in only one year, and that after achieving thirty billion won in research funding in 2019. The amount of research funding in 2020 showed a 30.7% increase of 9.5 billion won compared to last year, and the number of new research projects increased by 23.2% in 2020 to seventy-eight.

 

This result was largely due to the increase in orders for research projects and start-up support projects from the Korea Research Foundation. Also, research funding orders from the Korea Research Foundation have increased by one billion won compared to the year before. Start-up support projects, such as the Sports Start-up Support Center and Innovative Field Start-up Support Package projects have also increased their research funding orders to the amount of another one billion won. Continuing the growth, new orders and the Start-up Leap Forward Package support business have increased by four billion won, and research funding for industry, which is the core of the school’s industry-academia cooperation, have also increased 62.9% to 1.6 billion won, all of which have helped to achieve the total of forty billion won.

 

Representative Jung Yongwoo of the Sejong Research & Business Foundation claimed, “This achievement was possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of the professors towards the research funding orders in hopes of contributing to the development of the Sejong Research & Business Foundation as well as the university in spite of the COVID-19 crisis. Not only the professors, but many staff members at the Sejong Research & Business Foundation have also helped achieve this goal, so I am thankful for everyone involved.”

 

Korea University Sejong Campus will try harder to reinforce its research power, which is the basic function and role of a university, based on its over 40 billion won of research funding, and will conduct practical research to fulfill the demands of a future society by preparing for the upcoming Fourth Industrial Revolution.
