Oh Jihyun from Faculty of Global Sport Studies Wins First KLPGA Tournament in Three Years

Oh Jihyun, a student from the Faculty of Global Sport Studies in Korea University Sejong Campus wins her first KLPGA tournament in three years.

On August 1, Oh grabbed the victory at the Jeju Samdasoo Masters held in Rideul Country Club in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, with a score of 17-under par and a 4-under par 68 in the final round, collecting the lion’s share of the 900 million won in total prize money.

Oh has played in 60 tournaments overall on tour and won a total of seven, but her latest win at the Jeju Samdasoo comes after a three-year drought that began with her last win at the same tournament in 2018.

On her win she said in an interview that, “I achieved a win that I was definitely looking for after three long years. For the last three years, I have had a really hard time, but now I would like to express my gratitude to my parents for sticking by me through it all.”

She added, “Hopefully I can gain some much-needed momentum with this victory, so I will do my best to try and use it to win another tournament.”

In related news, golfer Park Minji, also from the Faculty of Global Sport Studies, tied for third with a total score of 12-under par and postponed her goal of grabbing her seventh win this season.
