On September 8, ‘The 1st Sejong Running Project’ was held in Shinan-li, Jochiwon. This project was sponsored by Sejong City and hosted by the Sejong Youth Network to revitalize youth culture and regional development. The slogan of this project is ‘Stop Thinking, Just Run!,’ which was intended to provide a fresh escape for youth who are tired of their daily lives.

Students from KU Sejong and citizens from Sejong City who participated in this project ran a 4.9km course from Shinan-li, Jochiwon to Lotus Park. This project of revitalizing youth culture is one of four programs with three kinds of subjects, ‘Streets and Spaces that Make My Heart Beat in Summer.’ The running course included Seochang Happiness Townhouses, Naechangcheon, Jocheon and the Lotus Park in Jochiwon, meaning that the streets would be transformed into a base of work and youth culture.

In stating his intentions behind the project, Kang GiHoon, a student in Business Administration and leader of the Sejong Youth Network that hosted this project, said, “Many young people come to Sejong City for university, but many people also leave. I want to advertise the region to students in order to revitalize the development of Sejong City through this Sejong Running Project.

The Sejong Youth Network is a youth group comprising members aged 19 – 34 living in Sejong City. It is a nonprofit organization with the goals of revitalizing youth culture and putting on events related to the region. As mentioned, the leader of the group is Kang GiHoon, a student in KU Sejong, and other members of the team include Hyun JiEun from English Studies, and Kim Hyunjin and Kim Junhyuk, both from the Faculty of Global Sports Studies.
