The second Public Policy Forum was held on November 13 in the second conference room of the Administration Building. The forum was sponsored by the NRF National Research Foundation of Korea, and was hosted by both the Public Policy Research Institute from our school, and the SSK Research Foundation at the school. It was organized under the theme of "Policy Utilization of Big Data." The forum was attended by Lee Chung Yeol (dean of college of Public Policy), Lim Jae Chun ( vice dean of college of Public Policy), Kim Geun Tae (professor of the Department of Public Sociology), Kim Ki Hwan (professor of the Department of National Statistics), and Park Eun Joo (researcher of Public Policy Research Institute). Kim Ki-hwan, professor of the Department of National Statistics, continued to discuss how big data is utilized and the direction of government policy.

"Big data is a technology that extracts value from a variety of large data types and analyzes results," Professor Kim Ki Hwan said. "It is important to accurately predict and analyze data across all areas of society and respond to problems with reliable predictions." Going on, he introduced the "Government 3.0," a paradigm of operations that addresses public problems by utilizing state-of-the-art technologies, and explained policies and platforms of each country that utilized big data. Lastly, "In addition to government administrative data, it is also necessary to search for ways to utilize private data." adding, "However, there is a lack of data available, so there is a need for systematic policy. "We need to acquire professional manpower and open up public data to improve usability. " The forum ended with panel discussion and question-and-answer.

Meanwhile, Public Policy Research Institute held its foundation seminar for the Public Policy Forum on October 17. Lim Jae Cheon, head of the Public Policy Research Institute, said that the forum was founded to promote policy research and establish a network of policy experts in the first seminar.
